Glendinning Farms and Holiday Cottages
|
|
Glendinning Farms - incorporating Glendinning Hope, Glenshanna, Sundhope and Jamestown Cottage - is a group of traditional working hill farms and holiday cottage situated in the unspoilt hills of South West Scotland. Carrying some 1250 South Country Cheviot ewes, 1000 purebred Scottish Blackface ewes, and a small flock of Pedigree Charollais sheep, the renowned sheep ground of Glendinning is also reputed to be the birthplace of the Scottish engineer Thomas Telford. Of further interest to the visitor is a former antimony mine on Glenshanna, known as the "Louisa Mine". The area attracts walkers, ornithologists and those with an interest in the local history. |
